Sony Corporation today showcased the latest evolution of Gran Turismo SOPHIE with the new AIOI Racing x Gran Turismo Team, at a special Gran Turismo World Series 2022 Exhibition Race.
The AIOI Racing x Gran Turismo Team will showcase SOPHIE’s capabilities and potential in motorsport as they compete in Super GT racing against other teams from around the world. As part of this collaboration, Sony will also provide technical support for its driver line-up which will be racing under its own name: “AIOI Racing” (the first-ever Japanese car manufacturer).
The team consists of three drivers who are all well-known in their respective fields: Masataka Yanagida (Team Principal), Hiroki Nishiura (Team Manager) and Yoshihiro Kato (Driver). All three have extensive experience driving sports cars at race circuits around Japan including Daytona International Speedway where they competed during last year’s 24 Hours Of Le Man’s competition
. The team will also be supported by several of Sony’s subsidiaries including AIOI Insurance, AIOI Securities, AIOI Engineering and AIOI Concept Design.
