The new program, which is called MOvatar (Missouri avatar) will include expanded gaming and creativity opportunities focused exclusively on teens as well as a teacher’s guide that explains how to replicate these activities in local libraries across the country.
The program was developed by the Institute for American Indian Arts (IAIA), a national nonprofit arts organization based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. IAIA has been working with Library Journal to expand its reach beyond its original focus on Native Americans since 1999.
